We Offer Opportunities to Learn, Educate & Perform
Dance Exams & Concerts, Taylors Lakes, VIC
Examinations are organised through the Australian Teachers of Dancing (ATOD) and Cecchetti Ballet. Exams are conducted in-house by an external examiner and the exams are a formal assessment. The styles examined are Jazz, Tap, Classical Ballet, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Acrobatics and Contemporary. It is disciplined and technical and encourages students to learn placement and posture of the body whilst learning technical terms of anatomy.
The examinations allow the students to adapt to different styles of dance through each genre; Tapping allows the students to explore Tango, Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba, Foxtrot and Waltz. The Jazz genre explores Contemporary, Lyrical, Technical and Jazz Funk. The Ballet genre helps students discover the world of national dances, including the Italian Tarantella, Russian, Hungarian and Portuguese. A benefit to the completion of an exam genre is that the student can finish a qualification with a Dance, Teaching & Management Diploma. We strongly suggest students undertake these examinations as they benefit every student in a different way.
Every year we have an annual Concert or Cabaret, held early in December. It is compulsory for all students to be involved in the concert. The annual concert culminates the student's hard work for the year, including examination results. It is a time of celebration and coming together as a dance school family.
All students participate in the Finale at the concert. Students wear their BPA uniform for this dance.
Each student receives a participation trophy. Trophies are also awarded for the highest marks in each examination genre, Jazz, Tap, Classical Ballet, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Acrobatics and Contemporary. The Overall Trophy is given to the student with the highest marks overall in the examinations. Other awards are given such as, Most Improved, Most Committed and the Robert Matthew Encouragement Award.
